In my work I often describe how the ‘Flat line’ – a mode of constant busyness and reactivity – can destroy performance over time.

But we rarely talk about how we switch off.
The data from my High Performance Routines assessment also shows a consistent pattern – we’re not warming down:
🔻 23% of people ‘rarely’ or ‘never’ have a cut-off time in the evening
🔻 39% say they respond to work messages during downtime
🔻 14% respond to work messages while relaxing, eating or watching TV
🔻 71% of us go to bed too late
🔻 Only 27% of us have a strong pre-sleep routine
