It’s quite the view and I want to talk about it, but I’m already in a series of posts about High Performance Routines and in particular the second stage – Focus.
How can I squeeze these two things together in a contrived, LinkedIn-style way?
Easy!
Did you know the original meaning of the word ‘focus’ was ‘point of convergence’?
It had original connotations with the hearth in a kitchen, where people would gather (converge).
And of course it just so happens Niagara Falls is one of the great points of convergence in the world.
The Falls are formed by the convergence of waters from Lake Erie and Lake Ontario (as well as being a point of convergence for two great nations, along with millions of tourists and conferences).
But the real point is what these ‘points of convergence’ generate.
Power.
Did you know that the Falls produce a quarter of all the power used in New York State and Ontario?
And there’s the metaphor! We’ve done it.
Focus – whether that be the convergence of two great Lakes, or between your attention and a goal – is immensely POWERFUL.
Thank you very much.
Next post: powerful life lessons from a ride on the Heathrow Express.
